A woman recently shared a surprising story on X (formerly Twitter) about a lady who became pregnant despite having an IUD (intrauterine device) to prevent pregnancy.
According to the post by @tiredfeminist_, the woman only found out she was 33 weeks pregnant during a recent scan - and, intriguingly, the IUD was nowhere to be found on the ultrasound.
The original post read: "A lady with an IUD just found out she's 33 weeks pregnant ðð Like, not only did she get pregnant while on birth control, but it was also undetected for months ðððð And during the scan, they couldn't see her IUD anymore ððð."
Adding a humorous yet bewildered take, the poster commented, "I think the baby ate it."
The revelation sparked a wave of controversy and discussion online, with many users flocking to the comment section to share their thoughts, questions, and concerns about the unusual situation.
See some reactions below:
@becomingShika: "This is literally my story, except for the pregnant part. I expelled my IUD after 4 weeks of insertion. When the gynae did the dildo scan thingie, she found nothing ððð my question of where it is will remain answered?"
@madzana_sanga: "I had so much confidence in IUD...if I can tell you, my confidence in IUD is turning 7yrs in Sept."
@Papa_Ibeji: "May be she removed it to get pregnant but needs an excuse for the partner?"
@ntwanie: "Bathong when you say cryptic you mean the baby wasn't visible to scans till now or she hasn't had any need for medical consultations for the better part of the year til now?"
@Yknip1: "Also did, they said maybe it fell during heavy flow mind you I was put on it by a dermatologist cause I was taking accutane but baby came out fine."
@sandykinz23: "ððððone day, as women we will need to accept that when the universe has aligned for you to conceive, it will happen no matter what."
@Official__Phumi: "Omg ð. This is why you need to always check/feel the strings of the IUD so you'll know when it's shifted."
@MKAYMAMPONE: "What are the side effects of IUD, my doctor has recommended it because of iron deficiency. But I'm scared of birth controls, I always get migraines and gain weight."
